Degrees Global Forum 2025

  • Century City Conference Centre 4 Energy Lane Cape Town, WC, 7441 South Africa (kartta)

Operaatio Arktis will take part in many discussions at the 2025 Degrees Global Forum, the largest conference to date on solar radiation modification (SRM).

Together with Green Africa Youth Organization and Environmental Defense Fund, we also organize a session on environmentalism and equitable SRM research at the plenary room on Wednesday 14 May at 14:15-15:30. This session will explore how the environmental movement engages on the topic of SRM research:

1. Science, equity, and environmentalism: EDF’s Associate Chief Scientist Lisa Dilling & Professor Nana Ama Browne Klutse discuss the science that enables a deeper understanding of environmental impacts of SRM, and the importance of greater equity in research.

2. Building an equitable movement: Ernest Ofori from Green Africa Youth Organisation and Ellen Haaslahti from Operaatio Arktis discuss the need for, and lessons learned, in developing a regionally diverse and youth-driven movement to advance dialogue on SRM research.

See you in Cape Town for critical discussions in a warming world 12–16 May 2025!
